Your Questions, Answered

Chiropractic care is generally considered a safe form of care when provided by a registered and appropriately trained chiropractor. Like any healthcare treatment, there can be risks alongside the benefits.
Your safety is our priority. We take your health history, current symptoms, medications and individual circumstances into account before recommending care.
You are always welcome to ask questions, and you can choose to accept, decline or change your care at any time.
-
Not necessarily. There are many different chiropractic techniques, and the approach we use depends on your individual needs, preferences and comfort.
Some techniques involve a quick, controlled movement of a joint which may produce a popping or clicking sound. This sound is usually caused by a change in pressure within the joint and is not something that needs to happen for an adjustment to be effective.
We also use gentler techniques and different approaches where appropriate. We'll always explain what we're doing before we do it, and your care will be tailored to you.
You may not be adjusted at every appointment either. Whether an adjustment is appropriate depends on what we find during your assessment, how you're responding to care, and whether it is safe and appropriate to do so on that particular day. Sometimes the best approach may be to focus on soft tissue work, mobility, movement advice or simply giving your body some time to recover.

Most techniques are comfortable, although you may occasionally experience some mild tenderness or soreness afterwards as your muscles need a chance to re-adjust to the changes made. Particularly when an area being adjusted is already irritated or sensitive.
We’ll take your comfort and preferences into account and can modify the technique, amount of pressure or approach at any time. If something doesn't feel right, tell us — your feedback is an important part of your care!
-
Absolutely. Not everyone who sees a chiropractor is in pain.
In fact it is quite common for people to choose chiropractic care because they want to maintain comfortable movement and good physical and neurological function, particularly if they lead an active lifestyle, spend long hours at a desk, want to keep up with their kids or grandchildren, or simply want to stay on top of their health.
Think of it a little like servicing your car — you don't necessarily wait until something breaks down before you look after it. Regular check-ins can help you stay aware of how your body is functioning and address area’s that aren’t running how they should, as they arise.
Wellness or maintenance care is a great way of keeping you at your best and is always a personal choice. We'll work with you to determine what is appropriate for your individual needs.
-
There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The number and frequency of appointments depends on what you're experiencing, how your body responds, your goals and what is appropriate for you.
After your assessment, we'll explain what we recommend and why. We'll monitor your progress along the way and adjust your care if your needs change.
Some people come in for a short period while recovering from an injury or managing a particular problem, while others choose to continue with wellness or maintenance care.
We believe in maintaining great function, rather than waiting for poor function to get in the way of doing what you love!
-
No. Your care is always your choice.
If you're receiving care for a particular problem, we'll discuss what we're trying to achieve, monitor your progress and review your care along the way. You can choose to stop, pause or change your care at any time.
People often choose to continue with wellness or maintenance visits because they value having regular check-ins and support for their movement and function. Others come only when they have a problem they'd like help with.

Yes. Chiropractors work with a range of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, and chiropractic care can form part of a broader approach to recovery and return to activity.
This may include adjustments, soft tissue work, mobility work and movement advice, depending on what you need. We can also work alongside your physiotherapist, GP or other healthcare providers where appropriate.
Whether you're a competitive athlete or simply enjoy being active, our goal is to help you move well and return to the activities that are important to you.

Pregnancy brings significant changes to the body, including changes in posture, joint loading, mobility and the way you move. This is a great time to see a chiropractor, as adjustments may help to calm the nervous system and return more comfortable movement.
Chiropractic care is always tailored to the individual and their stage of pregnancy, therefore, we adapt assessment and adjustment techniques to accommodate these changes and your comfort.
We'll also take your pregnancy and wider health history into account and will refer or work alongside your midwife, GP or other healthcare provider when appropriate.

Children and babies are constantly growing, learning and developing. From learning to roll, crawl and walk, to taking their first steps, trying new sports and figuring out where their rapidly growing limbs are in space, there can be plenty of bumps, falls and new physical challenges along the way!
Their bodies are changing incredibly quickly, and their nervous systems, muscles, joints and movement patterns are continually adapting as they grow.
When working with children, assessment and adjustment techniques are appropriately adapted to their age, development, size and individual needs. We use gentle techniques suited to each child and involve parents or caregivers throughout the process. Your child's comfort and safety are always our priority.
We'll also take their wider health history into account and, where appropriate, work alongside your child's GP, paediatrician, physiotherapist or other healthcare professional.
If you're unsure whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your child, we're happy to discuss your concerns before you book.

-
Definitely. Chiropractic care doesn't have to be an either/or decision.
We regularly work alongside other healthcare professionals and believe that good communication between providers can be valuable when someone needs more than one form of care.
If we think your presentation would benefit from another healthcare professional, we'll discuss this with you and can recommend or arrange an appropriate referral.
